Hi! I’m Katie!
I’m a Des Moines, Iowa photographer specializing in weddings, family photos, and in-home lifestyle newborn sessions.
2026 marks my 14th year running this wedding and portrait photography business of mine and I cannot wait to walk alongside and document my sweet couples and families as they grow, change, and live life.
I first fell in love with photography as I scrolled through a photographer’s blog posts, reading the stories of the couples being photographed. I never imagined that eventually it would be my job to visually document those stories and help preserve those memories for my own clients.
A little about me
I am an observer of moments. A little bit sarcastic. A lotta bit optimistic. I love finding the happiness in the smallest things.
It is a rarity to have a job where your clients are more like friends, and that’s something that has been so fulfilling for me!
FAST FACTS
:: I am “human” to my dog Bash.
:: Over the past 11 years, I have slowly renovated my 1930s home in Beaverdale. You can see a little bit of the process here.
:: I don’t watch a lot of tv, but I binge listen music like no other. Judah & The Lion, Ben Rector, Coy Roy, The Band Camino, Mat Kearney, and Noah Kahan are a few of my favorites!
:: I’m a sucker for snail mail and handwritten notes.
:: I’m a novice potter and have adored the creative outlet outside of photography. You can see what I’m working on here.
:: I recently completed my second Ironman 70.3: lifelong cyclist, sometimes runner, one-time 4th grade swim team member.
:: I am a backyard chicken tender and have 4 little nuggets that just started laying!
