Niki + Alex | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer – Des Moines Wedding and Family Photography

It was a complete joy to photograph Niki and Alex’s wedding day in Minnesota last fall. They chose to celebrate at Mendakota Country Club, with a rainy start to the day, the sun came out for the most beautiful fall ceremony. Niki is one of my best friend’s little sister, so this wedding day was extra special for me to be a part of, I love days where the couple’s family feels like my own family!

My favorite part of the day was Niki and Alex’s emotional first look and sharing their vows privately with one another. And I adored the meaningful and personal touches they added throughout the day. After their wedding ceremony, Niki and Alex included a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, to honor the elders that have played a meaningful part in their lives. Niki had a bow made from her mom’s wedding dress, Alex wore his father’s necklace. Niki and her dad, Steve, had the sweetest first look. Kip, a very close friend to Alex’s dad, officiated the wedding ceremony, keeping the memory of his dad present throughout the day. The night wrapped up with some of the most heartfelt and funniest toasts I’ve witnessed at a wedding.
